I recommend that backpackers are working from a list of camping equipment purchases in the planning and packing for their trip. There are two reasons for this. The first and most obvious reason is that if you have forgotten something important, can not jump in the car and walk to the nearest Wal-Mart to buy a replacement, as you can, if you are camping car (I own 3-propane bottles by this phenomenon). The second and less obvious reason is that it helps you limit what you bring, theis very important when it all on the back.
Here I show you my list. Of course, I am not a passer-hiker, nor did I have 4-season bag, but I have a couple of 11-day tours and many shorter trips made, and that's what works for me:
Protection
Most backpackers use a type of tents. I have a Coleman Cobra small two-man tent that I use when the weather is very cold (I had dreams of jumping off a polar bear hunting is a night Iceburg Iceburgif I sleep in my hammock in the evening the temperature was around freezing point attempts). However, I discovered that if the area allowed, the rules and the conditions there, I prefer to use a hammock. I put the tarp to a roof over my hammock, and quick recovery emerged in a group of nine during a sudden storm, intense, and they served us on the track. Of course, if you go to the field in a very rocky terrain, you want a tent independent. If you are going to beWalking in heavy snow, you want a four season tent. Here is my refuge:

Asleep
Ultralight fanatics killed the prisoner would simply beabsolute lightest sleeping bags. More power to them. All my bags are synthetic. I live in a very rainy, and synthetic bags still offer loft and warmth when wet. Due to an unfortunate incident during a trip to scout, I spent a cold night in a bag and squeezed out, as well as being a bit 'wet, was correct. Down at the other side loses loft when wet. Sure, there are many ways to dry the bag, but I prefer to prepare for the worst, I'm suffering witha few grams and the bag a little 'bulky.

Package
Some people prefer external frame packs, internal frame packs, some prefer. Here are the main differences: an external frame pack on your back cool and you have options on how to place gear on the outside of the box, but it tends to be a little hard on the back, as an internal, internal frame packs a great ride on the back , which reduces the weight very close range, but they are still warm on my back, and there are few ways to bring your own equipment. Iprefer internal frame packs, simply because I was not an external frame that is not influenced by the back of my head when I found looking up. I have a couple of packages, but now my package is very easy, because this is a really good place to cut the pounds.

Water
They are run by groups from the water on the track to be heard. I willeverything in my power to ensure that it is not for me or for a group are traveling to happen.
I am addicted to walk in the water supply in the region, will take me two Nalgene, Platypus gallon water bag and, if necessary, two empty one-liter bottles of soda. It notes that are held in the country and your water bottles are never anything other than water (club soda is just carbonated water), they should wear to go to the bag during the night. Cooking / Food
There are many opportunities to read high-tech ovens that are available today. I have the alcohol stove after reading an article online, and since it's pretty cool, and tends (not to mention that very, very easy) to be a conversation starter, is what I use. Of course, if you're in an area where it depends on the fuels available, with a white cane of the most common gas stove or even a dual-fuel stove that canand unleaded gasoline.

Security
Skimp on your tent is wet. Paring down the sleeping bag, and you get cold. Skimp on your safety equipment, and you may die.
Survival kit (in your pocket) First aid kit Easier, "waterproof" matches,and magnesium firestarter (there were many cold, wet, windy nights when the magnesium is frustration on fire) Reflector Pulsar two LED lights (it is always clipped the outside of the backpack) Topo Map Compass (I do not need GPS smelly - I take one, but if there are any geocaches on the track I'm taking)

Some people get less, a little more. I have found through experience that these are theThe objects I use, and even those that I'm sorry if I did not.

I also have very good compact my trash bags for the job so well with me.) Tape - a few meters is wrapped around one of the Nalgene enough for me. Multi-tool (caliper twice a pot lifter)
Food
Please keep the junk food and completely separated from the rest of the pack your items. Ziplock gallon isOK for this work. You do not want your backpack or gear, such as food odor. Bears have a good nose!
Two hot meals a day - oatmeal for breakfast and dinner for diversity Cold Trail-type food for lunch / snacks. (Be sure to plan for a lot of calories, or you start to feel really in the middle of the road.)
Clothing
I do not go all the clothes I wear list, because it changes significantly between seasons. But I think it is importantList of clothes you pack (ie duplicate records):
A non-absorption of T-shirts Two more breathable moisture underwear Two pairs of socks, SmartWool (I know, I did not get into specific clothes, but I have to call this. I found Trekker SmartWool socks are the best for backpacking trips. I offer a total of three pairs, so that I always (hopefully) have a dry pair to change.)
Optionally points to consider
You can add other items you thinkbut remember that an ounce on the back of a pound to bring your legs!
Sock-liner (I hate them, but some people love it. SmartWool socks with, I do not need.) Gaiters (I never used it, but I'm sure that will help you keep your socks dry in inclement weather. You are my "must try" list.) If you use the above list as a guide of campsites, as you prepare for your next backpacking trip, you can ensure that you get what you need without carrying a lot of stuff that I never use.
