I am not a mountaineer, arctic or something, but I want to go canoeing and extended camping trips with my wife. We both use the Kelty Chinook Sleeping Bag (20 ° model) because it is easy to carry, keeps water out (even if we hit a little 'white water, sometimes) and keeps us so hot in the tent spring to autumn. The decision was left to me and held me for a frugal man I was looking for the most bang for my dollar. The Chinook has proven to beSleeping bag perfect, because it is too hot for mid-summer canoe trips, but it keeps us nice and warm in early autumn.
It would be enough for me, but my wife is looking for comfort in the heat. The taffeta lining Qualofill filling the trick for them, so you either get a good night's sleep (thankfully!). Our first trip with our sleeping bags again, I was pleased that our Chinook packed quickly and easily, and has very little space in our storage boxes. Our oldSleeping bags were cheap models store, took a lot of space and forced us to pack only covered to keep warm - even in summer. Not the Chinook!
Temperature-wise, the warmest night we slept in these bags have been around 70 degrees, and we both slept well (although I unzip the bag to let a little air he did - but he was happy!). On one memorable trip in southern Ohio last fall was about 25, and we both went through the night comfortably. I do not thinkI would recommend this bag to severe cold-lovers, but for the average campers like us, the Kelty Chinook has served us very well - and is accessible. Highly recommended!
